PROMĚNY FOUNDATION

WHO WE ARE

The PROMĚNY Foundation is a private, non-profit organization, the mission of which is to improve the quality of the urban environment. By running a grant scheme, we contribute to the development of urban public green spaces, transforming neglected and abandoned areas into spaces where life can flourish, and offering new opportunities for the use thereof.

In addition to supporting specific physical work in public spaces, we also focus on promoting broader awareness of related topics: gardening and landscape design, architecture, the visual arts and community planning. We initiate public participation in projects, advocate the development of the urban cultural environment, and encourage intergenerational and interdisciplinary dialogue.

The PROMĚNY Foundation pursues its mission by engaging in the following activities:

PARKS Scheme

Since 2006, we have enabled Czech towns to restore or establish public parks by offering them:

  • a grant of up to CZK 25 million;
  • collaboration with prominent architects on the design of the new park;
  • professional support and consulting in the implementation of the project;
  • assistance in encouraging public involvement under the OUR PARK –  MY WORLD Scheme;
  • an allowance for the maintenance and upkeep of the new park for the initial three years after project completion.
 

PLAYFUL GARDEN Scheme

As of 2011, we have focused on the establishment and restoration of gardens at schools and other institutions for children and young people by offering:

  • a grant of up to CZK 2 million;
  • collaboration with prominent architects and artists on the design of the new garden;
  • professional support and consulting in the implementation of the project;
  • assistance in encouraging children and teachers to become involved in the creation and further use of the garden.

OUR PARK – MY WORLD Scheme

Since 2006, we have encouraged people to take an interest in public space and have spread awareness of the environment and the cultural urban landscape by means of:

  • public open-air events;
  • public project discussions, questionnaire-based surveys;
  • presentations, exhibitions, contests;
  • cooperation with schools and special-interest associations;
  • project and grant newsletters;
  • an original 4P information system.
